Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an British and American sitarist. She also sings. She was the youngest and first female to win the British House of Commons Shield she's received 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live and to be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is the student and sister of Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In the first few years of her life she was split her time between London New Delhi. As a teenager the first time she performed at New Delhi took place. In 1999, she completed her high school studies in Encinitas CA. Anouskha even though she is just an teen, has enjoyed an extremely successful recording and performing career. She performs regularly alongside her father and has been doing so for quite a number of years. Her debut solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The album was titled the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not restricted to just music. In 2002 she published the book Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a pictorial biography which pays special respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. Also, she has appeared in. in the 2003 movie Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed an Bharat natyam dancing young girl. Anoushka Shankar is currently a rising star and her career is expected to continue growing. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her growing up in between London and Delhi. After that, she relocated to California and enrolled in high school there. She started learning to play the guitar when she was nine years old and played the sitar for the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi just four years after. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire numerous valuable experience by accompanying her dad during his worldwide tour. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts in addition to making recordings together with George Harrison. To honor her position as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
